take me to the sky

6:43 pm That day I took the bus with a senior in flying, and as we quite often do, the topic of joining the air force came up, and essentially that led to a talk about what we wanted to do with our lives.

He said something which I guess quite a few people are feeling at the moment. He talked about getting flying over and done with, cause like he said it takes up alot of personal time, no time out with friends and stuff like that. I won't deny that at times (when I turn down outings with friends) I sometimes feel like it's taking up so much time.

I can't help but think back to the times when all we wanted was to get into PPL, and when we get that, we can't wait to be done with it? I really don't think I can't wait to be done with it, cause that would mean no more time in the skies, but then I came to realise that it really is all in the pursuit, and maybe that's what life is all about.

It's about pursuing what we don't already have but would like to have. On a microscopic (and more selfish) scale: PPL, good grades, lots of time with friends? and on a macroscopic scale: Happiness, money, a better world? Hmm, but we seldom feel much satisfaction if the PPL, good grades, time with friends, happiness, results and a better world was just dished out to us. The harder we were made to work for it, I guess the more we'd appreciate it, the sweeter it would be.

and it's the pursuit that'll keep us going, cause more often than not, if we do catch up to the dream, we might feel that instant of elation, but if we do not find something new to pursue, we might just feel lost without any direction.

right?
hahahaha.
